The Event 21 Designers, 21 Doghouses Twenty-one local Austin architecture and
design firms were invited to unleash their creativity while
working under a set of guidelines: The doghouses must contain some
recycled and sustainable materials; may not exceed five feet in
length, depth or height; On Saturday October 21, everyone was invited to
check out the doghouses on display throughout the 2nd Street District
from Noon – 5pm. All of the Barkitecture
doghouses were auctioned off via silent auction during the afternoon. Proceeds benefited local pet rescue charities,
including Sara Sanctuary, Lil Paws Maltese Rescue, Wee Rescue, Awards for distinguished doghouse designs and winners of the silent auction were announced at 6pm at Design Within Reach (200 W. 2nd Street). Several participating architects and designers were also on hand to discuss their creations. Winning doghouses were displayed at Design Within Reach for the rest of the weekend. We'd like to thank everyone who came to celebrate the incredible architecture and design talent in Austin and helped raise funds for our furry friends at these wonderful animal rescue groups.
